ASWA ensured that sex work was part of the important conversations that took place at AIDS 2022. We prepared the following advocacy messages.
- Join us in Montreal, Canada to call on the funders to increase support for sex workers’ HIV programming in Africa.
- Provide easy access to hormonal therapy for transgender sex workers in Africa.
- Criminalisation of sex work results in violence which increases vulnerability and risk of H.I.V. Decriminalise sex work in Africa for better sex workers’ health outcomes.
- Sex workers of all genders have health needs that are often overlooked. Include sex workers of all diversity in Africa in HIV programming.
- HIV prevalence is higher among sex workers than in the general population due to unequal access to appropriate health services. End inequalities to end AIDS among sex workers in Africa.
