A robust global sex workers delegation is attending the 67th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67).
ASWA Regional Coordinator Grace Kamau is in attendance and she is joined by Nokwanda Gambushe from Sisonke South Africa. At the Sex Worker Inclusive Feminist Alliance (SWIFA) in-person Parallel Event, Grace will be highlighting on the protection of human rights of sex workers on digital platforms. Her advocacy message is: ‘There is a need for sex workers data protection to ensure safety and security of sex workers, we also need community-led policy making on developing digital technology that impacts sex workers’
The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the main global intergovernmental body fully dedicated to promote of gender equality and the empowerment of women.
#CSW67 is a worldwide meeting where governments, civil society, youth, private sector and the UN will concur on a structure to make technology & innovation support gender equality.
The annual commission has been underway from 6th March and will end on 17 March 2023.The event is held in the UN Headquarter, New York, U.S.A. The theme for this year is ‘innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.’
CSW67 is timely for the digital future of women & girls.
