AIDS 2020: Virtual

The 23rd International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2020) was to be held on 6-10 July 2020 in U.S.A, but due to COVID-19 it was held virtually. It was the first virtual edition of the International AIDS Conference. The theme of the conference was ‘Resilience’. It is held every 2 years and is organized by International Aids Society (IAS).

AIDS 2020: Virtual was to allow the participants to encounter with the newest HIV science, community advocacy and knowledge. It involved virtual sessions and community networking, exhibitions, workshops, the Global Village, satellites and pre-conferences.

The outgoing President Anton Pozniak said ‘‘our commitment to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing global health landscape and to persevere in the face of uncertainty is stronger than ever.

@Peter ASands ,@GlobalFund    Peter Sands the Executive Director said “To mitigate the impact of #COVID19 on #HIV programs, we need to change ART distribution, adopt digital solutions, expand HIV self-testing and community services, and provide personal protective equipment to front-line workers.”. Thus to adopt digital solutions to mitigate the impact of #COVID19 on #HIV programs, sex workers need support in computer literacy.

He added that  ‘‘ in the fight against #HIV, the #COVID19 response must work with communities and partners to protect #humanrights and address stigma and discrimination, particularly among key and vulnerable populations. We must #LeaveNoOneBehind. #UniteToFight #AIDS2020Virtual ’’
